Experience the raw, untamed beauty of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya's flagship safari destination. Known as the theater of the "Greatest Show on Earth," this iconic reserve offers unparalleled wildlife viewing, vast savannah landscapes, and a deep, enduring connection to Maasai culture.
The Great Migration is a year-round, circular odyssey involving over 1.5 to 2 million wildebeest, 400,000 zebras, and hundreds of thousands of gazelles trekking across the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. Driven by primal instincts and rainfall patterns, they travel in search of fresh, mineral-rich grazing and water.
The Maasai Mara boasts one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in the world, making it a premier destination for photography and nature enthusiasts. Spot the iconic "BIG FIVE" lion, leopard, African bush elephant, Cape buffalo, and the elusive black rhino.
Beyond the Big Five, the reserve is home to cheetahs, giraffes, hippos, and over 450 species of birds, from the Kori bustard to various majestic raptors.
Named in honor of the ancestral Maasai people. In the Maa language, "Mara" means "spotted" a reference to the short, bushy trees, shrubs, and shadows of clouds that dot the vast plains.
While wildlife viewing is excellent year-round, the Great Migration herds typically arrive in the Maasai Mara from July to October, which is the best time for river crossings.
The reserve spans approximately 1,510 sq km (580 sq mi). It forms part of the larger Mara-Serengeti ecosystem, allowing free animal movement across borders.
Join us in the Mara for the safari of a lifetime.
